Toyota Indonesia Continues to Look for Opportunities to Increase Export Opportunities to Mexico

,

PT. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) recently visited Mexico to look for opportunities to expand Toyota Indonesia’s business and increase Indonesian automotive exports to Mexico.

At a meeting with the Indonesian Embassy in Mexico City, TMMIN Management said that they had succeeded in exporting various automotive products from Indonesia to Mexico, such as the Toyota Avanza and Raize.

However, Toyota Indonesia is still looking for opportunities that can be exploited to continue increasing automotive exports to Mexico.

Indonesian Ambassador to Mexico Cheppy T. Wartono emphasized that the Indonesian Embassy in Mexico City will continue to help TMMIN to increase automotive exports to Mexico.

“We hope that automotive products from Indonesia can continue to compete with automotive products from various other countries,” said Cheppy, quoted Thursday (30/11/2023).

After visiting Mexico, TMMIN Top Management will continue their trip to several other countries in the Latin American region, such as Peru and Brazil, in an effort to continue to look for opportunities to increase Indonesian automotive exports to the Latin American and Caribbean regions.

Toyota is hampered by exports to Mexico

Previously it was reported that Toyota was unable to optimally export the Yaris Cross to Mexico. This is due to restrictions on import quotas by the Mexican government.

Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) during January – September 2023, Toyota Indonesia recorded an export achievement of 213,901 units. This achievement increased by 2.5 percent with export performance in the same period in 2022 (208,775 units).

Meanwhile, Gaikindo recorded a CBU export performance of 379,498 units for the period January-September 2023. Toyota Indonesia contributed 56 percent of the total export performance of Toyota branded vehicles, which included the HEV Kijang Innova Zenix and Yaris Cross.
