On Tuesday (26/12/2023), the former Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, died at the Gatot Subroto Central Army Hospital, Jakarta, while undergoing deployment.
Previously, Lukas Enembe served as Governor of Papua for two terms before being caught in a corruption case.

Before he died, it was known that Lukas Enembe was involved in a corruption case which resulted in him being arrested by the KPK investigative team.
Lukas was caught in an alleged criminal act of corruption in giving and receiving gifts or promises of infrastructure development in Papua. The KPK also named the Director of PT Tabi Bangun Papua (TBP) Rijatono Lakka as a suspect.
