The Coordinating Minister for the Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, purchased 12 units of the Chery Omoda E5 electric car which were assembled locally in Indonesia.
Through his special staff, Coordinating Minister Airlangga decided to order 12 Omoda E5 units from PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI).
“It is a matter of pride for CSI that Mr Airlangga likes the Omoda E5 and immediately instructed to order 12 units through his special staff. This is not only real support for Chery in Indonesia, but also the Indonesian government’s support for the development of green technology vehicles,” said Harry Kamora, Vice President of PT Chery Sales Indonesia, Friday (8/12/2023).

The Chery Omoda E5 itself was first introduced at the GIIAS 2023 exhibition, which was held last August. But at that time, this electric car still had the name Omoda 5 EV.
As previously reported, the Omoda E5 is capable of reaching a distance of 450 km if the battery is fully charged. The battery it uses has a capacity of 61 kWh.
Apart from that, this car is also claimed to have a maximum power of 150 kW and a maximum torque of 340 Nm. Its acceleration capability from rest to 100 km/h is claimed to only take 7.8 seconds.
Meanwhile, energy consumption is in the range of 15 kWh/100 km.
Even though around 400 units have been ordered, the Chery Omoda E5 does not yet have an official price in Indonesia. It is not yet known when the price of this electric car will be announced.
