Vice presidential candidate number 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, recently made a political visit to Manado, North Sulawesi. He attended the `Gibran Heard` event at the Luwansa Hotel and Convention Center on Sunday (24/12/2023).
On that occasion, Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended a meeting to listen to the aspirations of figures from Bolaang Mongondow Raya. At the event, Gibran performed the Dana Dana dance which is a specialty of the Bolaang Mongondow area, North Sulawesi.
When the dance was performed, initially Gibran Rakabuming Raka was greeted with dance movements involving four dancers. Then, the figures present invited Gibran to join in the dance performance.
Not long after that, Gibran joined in dancing at the front. After finishing his dance, Gibran greeted the figures present and interacted with them.
One of the community figures who was present, Marlina Siahaan, said that the dance was performed as a form of recognition for Gibran as part of their family. He also revealed that Gibran had begun to understand a little Mongondow language.
As is known, the Dana-dana dance is a dance from North Maluku which is usually danced during celebrations in the form of weddings or people’s parties. The uniqueness of this dance is dominated by dynamic movements following the rhythm of Dana-Dana music with songs containing rhymes with a love theme.
As previously reported, Gibran Rakabuming Raka appeared confident in the 2024 election vice presidential debate. Gibran claimed to be the only vice presidential candidate who had experience in debating at the General Election Commission (KPU) when he was Mayor of Solo.

“Ladies and gentlemen, on that stage, of the three contestants last night, yes, the only person who took part in the KPU debate was me as mayor,” said Gibran
Gibran took the opportunity to convey his experience in the debate held by The KPU gave him the upper hand. He also invited his supporters not to worry about his performance in the debate. According to Gibran, the various negative messages spread on social media are just an attempt to damage his image and are the result of deliberate framing.
