Temporarily Suspending Delivery of Several Models, Toyota Ensures Products in Indonesia Comply with Standards

PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) and PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) decided to temporarily stop deliveries of several Toyota models in Indonesia, especially for products developed jointly with Daihatsu.

This suspension is a follow-up to the discovery of several procedures that did not comply with standards by Daihatsu Motor Co. Ltd which was announced on April 28 2023.

Where an independent committee was formed to carry out a thorough examination of various procedures within the company, covering a total of 64 vehicle models which are currently being developed as the Daihatsu brand or to be marketed as the Toyota brand.

“We would like to confirm that currently, customers who use Toyota products, including those developed jointly with Daihatsu, do not need to worry or take any action, and can continue to use their vehicles as usual,” wrote Toyota’s statement, Friday (22/12/2023 ).

After consulting regarding further actions, it was decided that the vehicle delivery process, including models developed jointly with Daihatsu by Toyota Indonesia, had returned to normal starting on December 22 2023 to meet the needs of customers in Indonesia.

The Indonesian government also hopes that affected exports can resume as soon as possible after confirmation from the relevant authorities in the export destination country.

“Once again, Toyota Indonesia would like to sincerely apologize to all customers and stakeholders in Indonesia regarding the inconvenience and possible concerns caused by this activity,” said Toyota.

It is known that a number of Toyota products have also felt the impact of the scandal regarding irregularities in crash test procedures carried out by Daihatsu.

In the document attached by Toyota, the affected models sold in Indonesia include the Avanza, Rush, Raize, Veloz and Yaris Cross.
