The toll road or TOL (Tax on Location) business is part of a subsidiary of PT Astra International Tbk – a national company that has 272 subsidiaries, including the automotive sector, financing services and insurance.
At the 2023 Industrial Journalists Workshop at Menara Astra, Central Jakarta, PT Astra Tol Nusantara or Astra Infra was present.
Still 15 years old and relatively young when compared to Astra’s automotive business line which has existed for decades, Astra Infra provides the answer to the need for freeway sections. Including users of four-wheeled vehicles (and more) produced by Astra.
In this age, PT Astra Tol Nusantara has provided services with the adoption of high technology.
“Like toll payments which used to be cash, are now taps,” explained Billy Perkasa Kadar, Group COO of PT Astra Tol Nusantara.
According to him, this change is a fundamental achievement in the toll road service managed by PT Astra Tol Nusantara.
The latest technology that is ready to be implemented is the Multi Line Free Flow or MLFF service.
“We are waiting for the results of the trial in the second week of December 2023, which will be carried out limited to the Bali Mandara toll road,” he continued.
“If the results are good, get approval from the authorities, the Ministry of PUPR (Public Works and Public Housing), and BPJT (Toll Road Regulatory Agency), then we will implement MLFF. Astra Infra ensures the best,” said Billy Perkasa Kadar.
The toll road owned by PT Astra Tol Nusantara stretches 395 km, consisting of several sections. Such as MMS (Astra Infra Toll Road TangerangMerak), LMS (Astra Infra Toll Road CikopoPalimanan).
Corrective steps are always taken, including lane widening and inspections to ensure that the road is physically good.
Apart from that, the 3E fatality reduction program is implemented, namely Engineering, Enforcement and Education. The last two steps are called the safety campaign and Simpatik Operation.
