Honda Prepares Investment of IDR 52.6 Trillion Specifically for Electric Motorcycle Development

Honda Motor Company announced an investment plan of US$3.4 billion or the equivalent of IDR 52.6 trillion specifically for the development of electric motorbikes.

With this investment plan, Honda is reportedly ready to release 10 electric motorbikes by 2025.

Senior Managing Executive Officer and Chief Officer in charge of Electrification Business Development Operations HMC, Katsushi Inoue said that his party is committed to presenting mobility products that environmentally friendly and sustainable.

“Electric motorbikes are an important part of our strategy to achieve carbon neutrality,” said Katsushi Inoue, reported on Thursday (30/1/2023).

As a long-term plan, Honda is even targeting to launch 30 new electric motorbike models by 2030. 

Honda’s new electric motorbike will be focused on markets where demand for electric motorbikes is already quite large, such as Europe, the United States and China .

Honda Electric Motorbikes in Indonesia

In Indonesia itself, PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) has launched the Honda EM1 e: electric motorbike at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).

For mileage, Honda EM1 e: capable of reaching a maximum speed of 45 km per hour with a maximum distance of 41.1 km.

Honda EM1 e: which is equipped with an MPP e battery: is marketed at a price of around IDR 40 million IDR 45 million. Meanwhile, the color choices offered are Innovative White, Intelligent Matte Black and Smart Red.
