Team HRC WSBK racer, Xavi Vierge, expressed his disappointment because the World Superbike (WSBK) racing event will no longer be held at the Mandalika Circuit next year.
This racer from Spain hopes that the Mandalika Circuit can again hold WSBK racing as soon as possible.
“Of course the worst is that next year we won’t come (to the Mandalika Circuit). So yes, I’m very sad about that. But I’m sure we can return soon (to the Mandalika Circuit),” said Xavi Vierge, in Jakarta , Thursday (30/11/2023).
Xavi is said to have fond memories of the Mandalika Circuit. At WSBK Mandalika 2022, Xavi finished sixth in the first race and seventh in the second race.
Meanwhile at the 2023 WSBK Mandalika event, the performance of the Moto2 graduate racer was even better. In the first race, Xavi successfully finished seventh, then in the second race Xavi managed to climb the third podium.
“Yes, I already knew there were plans to make a new circuit in Lombok. When I saw it in person, I couldn’t believe it, this circuit was very good. Finally last year I was able to try this circuit for the first time, I felt happy coming here and really enjoy it,” said Xavi.
WSBK Removes Mandalika Circuit
It is known that WSBK has removed Indonesia from the temporary schedule for next season. In the temporary calendar released by WSBK, the Madalika Circuit is not included in the 2024 racing calendar.
WSBK 2024 will open in Australia on 23-25 February 2024. The rest of the superbike motorbike races will only be held in Europe. There are no Asian countries listed on the temporary World Superbike 2024 calendar.
The Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, which has held World SBK three times, is not listed on the calendar.
