PT Astra International Tbk–a national company consisting of 272 business units, including those in the automotive, financing services and insurance sectors–held a joint tree planting event as part of the Joint Tree Planting Movement in Green Open Spaces (RTH) .
Quoted from Astra’s official release as received by , the Joint Tree Planting Movement took place in DKI Jakarta Province on Wednesday (29/11/2023). Precisely in the City Forest, Pulo Gadung Industrial Area, East Jakarta. The event was attended by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who symbolically was directly involved in planting trees together.
To date, there are three tree planting areas carried out by Astra, including the Pulo Gadung Industrial Area City Forest, East Jakarta, Nagrak Flats, North Jakarta, and Casamora Gardens, South Jakarta. Overall, Astra has donated a total of 500 trees of the pulai, bungur, flamboyan and sapodilla tree species, and spathodea.

In planting trees in the City Forest of the Pulo Gadung Industrial Area, East Jakarta, the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia ad interim Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Andi Amran Sulaiman, the Secretary of the Cabinet of the Republic of Indonesia Pramono Anung, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono and Head of Security Astra Muslich.
The tree planting is a continuation of the tree planting program in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
“Appreciation to both central and regional governments as well as related companies and the community involved in this tree planting activity. “I invite all people to plant any trees in their respective environments,” said Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the planting ceremony.
“This participation is a concrete manifestation of Astra’s contribution to providing a positive impact on the environment and supporting the government in making the joint tree planting movement a success which is carried out simultaneously in various regions, for today and the future of Indonesia,” said Chief of Corporate Affairs Astra Riza Deliansyah.
As mentioned, Astra’s steps in taking part in the tree planting movement are for today and future generations, one of the functions of trees is to filter substances that cause pollution or pollutants. This includes exhaust fumes from motor vehicles.
Likewise for air circulation, it also contributes to the freshness of the flowing wind. The functions of trees include the city’s lungs, minimizing the risk of landslides, and providing shade as a green umbrella.
