Toyota Fortuner Will Soon Adopt Hilux`s Mild Hybrid Technology

,

The Toyota Fortuner is rumored to be equipped with Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology, the result of adopting technology that was previously embedded in the mild hybrid Toyota Hilux.

Although there is no official information regarding when it will be launched, the presence of the Toyota Foruner with Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology will not be long in coming.

As is known, the Toyota Hilux and Toyota Fortuner always share platforms and engines. Thus, there is a big possibility that Toyota’s flagship SUV will also be equipped with similar technology.

The use of mild hybrid technology is Toyota’s strategy so that consumers have more variants as well as efforts to reduce low carbon emissions.

This mild hybrid technology will later be realized in the form of a battery with a capacity of 48V. The embedded battery will be able to deliver additional electrical power for car power and operation.

“The fuel efficiency achieved is around 10 percent. Still small compared to the traditional hybrid that Toyota has been developing for a long time,” reported by Drive, Thursday (30/11/2023).

Previously, Leon Theron, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Toyota South Africa, confirmed that mild hybrid technology would be provided to the Toyota Hilux and Toyota Fortuner.

“Honestly, hybrid is the best solution for us because it has been successfully used in other Toyota cars,” he concluded.
