This recall covers vehicles with the 2020–2022 model year range. Affected models include the Avalon, Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Lexus ES250, ES300H, ES350, RX350 Highlander, and Sienna Hybrid.
2. Problems with OCS Sensors
Recall carried out due to problems with Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensors. A short interruption occurs in this sensor which can cause the airbag not to deploy properly. This sensor is responsible for ensuring the airbag does not deploy if a small adult or child is seated in front of it.
3. Impact on Safety
Errors in OCS sensors can have a serious impact on passenger safety. Airbags that are not functioning properly can increase the risk of injury in a crash.
4. Affected Vehicle Models
Several Toyota and Lexus models are included in this recall, such as the Camry, which is one of the affected models. Owners of the vehicles involved will have their OCS sensors checked and replaced at no additional cost.
5. Notification to Owners
Toyota plans to notify owners of the vehicles involved by mid-February 2024. Inspections and replacements will be performed free of charge and owners are expected to respond promptly to this notification to maintain the safety of their vehicles.
