Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita revealed plans for the French automotive brand, Renault, to invest in Indonesia.
According to the Minister of Industry, Renault has the opportunity to invest in the country for electric vehicles and is currently studying this plan.
“We met with Renault, they are also studying and planning to invest,” said the Minister of Industry, Friday (29/12/2023).
Previously it was reported that a similar plan would also be carried out by the electric car company VinFast in Indonesia.
This plan was submitted by the Minister of Investment or Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BPKM), Bahlil Lahadalia.
“While some electric cars have already been made, the ones coming in now are from Vietnam (VinFast), and recently the CEO met me,” said Bahlil.
Furthermore, Minister Bahlil even revealed the location of the VinFast factory to produce electric cars in Indonesia.
“Already looking for a location in Batang (Semarang), maybe in one to two months it will be finished, construction will start straight away,” he said.
The investment value of VinFast in Indonesia reached 1.2 billion United States dollars, or the equivalent of IDR 18 trillion, which was disbursed in stages to build an electric vehicle ecosystem in the country.
