PT Jakarta Transportation or TransJakarta in collaboration with PT Goodyear Indonesia Tbk signed an MoU to collaborate on training for drivers, mechanics and tire management in order to provide transportation services that prioritize aspects of safety, comfort and sustainability.
“The focus of this MoU and cooperation is of course that we understand at PT Transportation Jakarta that tire management is an important thing, whether from the aspects of safety, comfort, efficiency or also the environment,” said the Main Director of PT Transportation Jakarta Welfizon Yuza in Jakarta, Tuesday (19/12/2023).
Currently, the TransJakarta bus unit has served more than 1.1 million customers every day and the high mileage is said to reduce tire life quickly, thus requiring a comprehensive tire maintenance and diagnostic system to support efficiency and quality of service community transportation.
“If TransJakarta is currently buying tires, in the future there will be many other patterns that we can implement together, for example tires at a certain kilometer price so that the efficiency and costs incurred by TransJakarta can be more efficient,” said Welfizon.
He added that later he would also work on potential collaborations and other businesses with Goodyear for the benefit of both parties.
Meanwhile, at the same event, President Director of PT Goodyear Indonesia, Tbk Iman Santoso said he was happy because he could participate in supporting TransJakarta operations. According to him, there is a common vision, especially in terms of improving the safety factors of vehicle drivers and passengers.
He referred to his company’s experience monitoring tire management in many fleets throughout Indonesia, saying that tire maintenance costs account for approximately 30 percent of total vehicle maintenance.
Therefore, according to Iman, the ability to manage tires will provide maximum benefits for management to develop the operational quality of the fleet.
