Embedding SHVS Technology, Hybrid Vehicles Produced by Suzuki Support the Government`s Steps Towards NZE 2060

Posted on December 3, 2023August 8, 2025 by syauqi wiryahasana

Net Zero Emission or NZE 2060 is Indonesia’s program towards a cleaner environment free from pollution-causing pollutants, thereby creating good air quality. Not only useful for the current generation, but for the future of our nation and its surroundings.

Quoted from the Antara news agency, based on data from the European Commission through the GHG Emissions of All World Countries 2023 report, it is stated that the total volume of Indonesia’s greenhouse gas emissions in 2022 will reach 1.24 gigatons or the same as 2.3 percent of total house gas emissions glass globally. This condition is an increase of up to 10 percent from the previous year.

“Looking at the data regarding the increase in the volume of Indonesia’s greenhouse gas emissions, we realize that there is a need to take steps to reduce energy use to overcome the various environmental problems that are occurring,” explained Harold Donnell, Marketing Director of 4W PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales or SIS, in the Anniversary Discussion activity 20th Forwot in Sentul, West Java, Saturday (2/12/2023).

This concrete step supports the government’s program to reduce exhaust emissions in the NZE 2060 program.

After presenting various hybrid vehicles as a bridge, Suzuki will later move towards fully electric vehicles.

There are also Suzuki products that have adopted SHVS technology, including the Suzuki All New Ertiga Hybrid, Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Suzuki New XL7 Hybrid. These products are part of Suzuki’s first steps in supporting a greener ecosystem.

“Every month, market interest in hybrid cars is getting better, for example, sales of Suzuki hybrid cars in Indonesia reached 46 percent compared to overall sales of Suzuki passenger models in October 2023,” added Harold Donnell.

Based on tests conducted internally by Suzuki, the use of SHVS technology for products is able to reduce exhaust emissions by up to 15 percent when compared to non-hybrid models.

The way this latest technology from Suzuki works is by relying on two components, namely the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a Lithium-ion battery which complements the presence of an internal combustion engine (ICE or Internal Combustion Engine).

Apart from being a first step towards carbon neutral vehicles, SHVS technology is also offered by Suzuki as a solution for more efficient vehicles. Namely reduced costs for purchasing fuel because it relies on a hybrid system. In this way, the level of combustion that produces carbon dioxide can be reduced, while being more economical in terms of costs.
