Planting Trees with Astra, Indonesian President Joko Widodo Invites the Community to Get Involved in Activities to Green the Environment

The President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo attended the Joint Tree Planting Movement event held by PT Astra International Tbk., in the Green Open Space (RTH) in DKI Jakarta Province.

Taking place on Wednesday morning (29/11/2023), Astra, which has 272 subsidiaries, including those operating in the automotive, financing services and insurance sectors, has managed three tree planting areas.

Namely the Pulo Gadung Industrial Area City Forest, East Jakarta, Nagrak Flats, North Jakarta and Casamora Gardens, South Jakarta. In total, Astra has donated 500 trees with the types of pulai, bungur, flamboyan and sapodilla and spathodea trees.

“I invite all people to plant any trees in their respective environments,” said the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

He was present at the event held in the Pulo Gadung Industrial Area City Forest, East Jakarta, appearing to greet all participants of the Joint Tree Planting Movement in the Jabodetabek area virtually, accompanied by Muslich, Head of Security for Astra as Astra’s representative.

Astra’s enthusiasm for providing a positive impact on the environment for today and Indonesia’s future is in line with Astra’s ideals of Prospering with the Nation and supporting Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On the other hand, as a company operating in various industrial sectors, including automotive, the movement to plant trees and contribute to the environment has been carried out by this national company for a long time. This includes holding a million trees program and various other green activities. Including mangrove planting on the coast.

Apart from that, supporting Indonesia’s steps to achieve Net Zero Emission or NZE which was proclaimed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo to be achieved by 2060, PT Astra International Tbk through the automotive sector has contributed to presenting various electrified vehicles or Electric Vehicles, from four-wheeled to two-wheeled. Also uses solar panels and much more.

And Indonesian President Joko Widodo himself has helped accelerate the transition of Indonesian society towards the era of electrification and reducing environmental emissions. Apart from the electric vehicle incentive policy, steps are also being taken to convert internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to EVs.
