PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) no longer uses manual keys and applies the Honda Smart Key System as a replacement for operating the Honda PCX and several other models.
Apart from functioning as a replacement key, the Honda Smart Key also functions as an anti-theft alarm system controller and an answer back system setting on motorbikes which makes it easier for users to find the position of the motorbike when in the parking lot.
When the answer back system is used, the motorbike turn signal will flash accompanied by an alarm sound. However, not many people seem to know that the sound volume can be adjusted according to the user’s wishes.
Here’s how to adjust the volume of the alarm sound on a number of Honda motorbikes that already use remote smart keys as quoted from the Astra Honda Motor page, Wednesday (27/12/2023):
– First make sure that the Honda Smart Key system is activated.
– Press the ignition key to authenticate the Honda Smart Key system.
– Press and hold the ignition key for more than 4 seconds.
– The Honda Smart Key indicator and ignition key ring light are flashing.
– Press the ignition key 1 time when the Honda Smart Key indicator and ignition key ring light flash.
– The Honda Smart Key indicator and ignition key ring light come on, and the alarm sounds.
Repeat the following steps 3 times:
Press the answer back/alarm button on the Honda Smart Key 2 times and the ignition key 1 time.
– When the ignition key is pressed, the Honda Smart Key indicator and ignition key ring light turn off, and the buzzer sounds.
– Make sure the Honda Smart Key indicator and ignition key ring light come back on before the next input.
– When the answer back/alarm button is pressed, the LED on the Honda Smart Key lights up. Make sure the LED is off before pressing the button again.
– When the answer back/alarm button or ignition key is not pressed for 1 minute, the Honda Smart Key indicator and ignition key ring light flash 3 times, then the alarm sounds and the mode is cancelled. Go back to 1 and do the procedure again.
– If you press the answer back/alarm button incorrectly several times, turn off the Honda Smart Key system before repeating the procedure 3 times, then repeat the procedure 3 more times.
– Press the answer back/alarm button to select one of 3 sound volume levels. The Honda Smart Key indicator and ignition key ring lights come on when setting up.
Apart from being able to adjust the alarm volume, the Honda Smart Key System can also be used to change the sound pattern of the alarm sound and turn the alarm sound off to silent mode.
