Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi stated that Indonesia Emas 2045 is one of the Government’s long-term commitments to produce quality and outstanding human resources in industry.

Quoted by the Antara news agency from his official Instagram social media page @budikaryas, he shared his work experience in the government sector and a series of Ministry of Transportation programs in an Inspirational Talk with Gojek Scholarship Recipients.

Gojek is the on-demand service business unit of the GoTo Group and has a consistent program to improve the standard of living of driver partners and families in the GoTo ecosystem.

One of them is the Gojek Scholarship, the success of which can be seen this year with the graduation of the sons/daughters of the first batch of Gojek Scholarship recipients. The event was witnessed by the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Karya Sumadi, who was invited to express his appreciation.

Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia Budi Karya Sumadi awarded medals to alumni who received the First Gojek Scholarship which was also witnessed by the Director and President of the GoTo Group’s On-Demand Services Business Unit, Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo. (ANTARA/HO-Gojek) Gojek is the first company in the transportation industry to provide full educational scholarships for the families of its driver partners, from start to graduation.

“We believe that education is the main key that can realize the achievement of the Government’s target of a Golden Indonesia. I appreciate Gojek for consistently creating Self-Help Programs that have a social impact, both for Gojek Partners, one of which is access to education through the Gojek Partner Children’s Scholarship Program ,” welcomed Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.

“I congratulate you on graduating from this first generation of the program, I hope that the Sons and Daughters of Gojek Partners can continue to be successful and become an inspiration for Indonesia’s young generation,” he continued.

The Gojek Scholarship itself started in 2020 and consistently provides higher education opportunities every year to the sons and daughters of Gojek driver partners. To date, there have been 62 Gojek Scholarship recipients studying at leading state polytechnics throughout Indonesia, after going through a strict selection process from thousands of applicants.

“This year, we are proud to welcome the first batch of Gojek scholarship recipients who graduated from higher education. What is also encouraging is that they graduated on time with excellent academic achievements. Most of them have even found jobs according to their interests and majors,” explained Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, Director and President of On Demand Service GoTo Group.

“As a concrete manifestation of Gojek Swadaya’s ongoing commitment, we do not stop at providing scholarships for formal education, but provide non-academic skills training (soft skills) to prepare them to face the competitive world of work,” he said.

The non-academic skills (soft skills) training provided includes training on how to write a CV properly and correctly, preparation for job interviews, building a work ethic as a young graduate, as well as basic leadership values.

The self-development program is carried out voluntarily by employees in Gojek management who are competent in their fields, as a form of support between members of the Gojek ecosystem.

The series of policies and initiatives for the Gojek driver partner family are part of the Zero Barriers sustainability commitment, where Gojek as part of the GoTo Group is committed to eliminating all obstacles to access, growth and opportunities for all parties in the GoTo Group ecosystem.

Apart from scholarships, various other Gojek Swadaya programs have been utilized by more than 450 thousand driver partners per month and help them save up to 15 percent of operational costs as driver partners.

Launched in 2016, more than 240 thousand Gojek driver partners and their families have access to a better life through savings and insurance programs including BPJS, affordable Home Ownership Credit (KPR), and partner child scholarships.

According to the Gojek Socioeconomic Impact Study (2023) conducted by the FEB UI Demography Institute, the various welfare programs provided in the Gojek ecosystem make 90 percent of Gojek partners confident that they will be able to provide a decent life for their families after partnering with Gojek.

In fact, more than 80 percent of Gojek partners believe that a partnership with Gojek will help send their children to college.

“In its fourth year, the Gojek Scholarship continues to receive positive responses from driver partners, thus motivating us to continue to expand the benefits of this program in the future and create sustainable prosperity in our ecosystem,” said Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo.

Meanwhile, testimonials from Gojek Scholarship recipients include Dzikru Rahman, son of a Gojek driver partner in Jakarta.

He has great determination to enter college majoring in Mechanical Engineering according to his great interest in the automotive field. He succeeded in qualifying as a Gojek scholarship recipient in 2020 after going through a rigorous selection and interview process. After studying for approximately three years, he graduated
