Year-end Prayer Reading 2023
For the year-end prayer read 3 times before maghrib on the last day before the turn of the year.
Here is the reading: ِكَ بَعْدَ قُدرَتِكَ عَلى عُقُوبَتِيْ وَدَعَوْتَنِيْ إلَى التْبَةِ مِنْ بَعْدَ جَرَاءَتِيْ عَلَى مَعْسِيَتِكَ فَإِنِّي اسْتَغْفَرْتُكَ فَاغْ For أَنْ تَتَقَبَّلَ مِنِّيْ وَلَا تَقْطَعْ رَجَائِيْ مِنْكَ يَا كَرِيْمُ
Allâhumma mâ ‘amiltu min ‘amalin fî hâdzihis sanati mâ nahaitani ‘anhu, wa lam atub minhu, wa hamalta fîhâ ‘alayya bi fadlika ba’da qudratika ‘alâ ‘uqûbat î, wa da’ autani ill taubati min ba’di jarâ’atî ‘alâ ma’shiyatik. Fa innî astaghfiruka, faghfirlî wa mâ ‘amiltu fîhâ mimmâ tardhâ, wa wa’attanî ‘alaihits tsawâba, fa’as’aluka an tataqabbala minnî wa lâ taqtha’ rajâ’î minka yâ karîm.
Meaning: My Lord, I ask for forgiveness for my actions in this year that include You forbidden – while I have not had time to repent, my actions that You know because of Your mercy – while You are able to torture me, and actions (sins) that You command to repent – while I attacked him which means disobeying You.
My God, I hope that You accept my actions that You are pleased with this year and my actions that are promised Your reward. Don’t make me despair. O Most Merciful Lord.
Reading of the Prayer at the Beginning of the Year 2024
After reading the prayer at the end of 2023, it is recommended to continue with the prayer at the beginning of the year 2024. ِ وَكَرِيْمِ جُوْدِكَ المُعَوَّلُ, وَهٰذَا عَامٌ جَدِيْدٌ قَدْ أَقَبَلَ, اَسْآَلُكَ العِسْمَةَ فِيْهِ مِنَ الشَّيْتَانِ ANDَعَوْلِيَائِِ, وَالعَوْنَ عَلَى هٰذِهِ النَّفْسِ الأَمَّارَةِ بِالسُوْ ءِ, وَالاِشْتِغَالَ بِمَا يُقَرِّبُنِيْ إِلَيْكَ زُلْفَى يَا ذَا الجَلَالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ
Allâhumma antal abadiyul qadîmul awwal. Wa ‘alâ fadhlikal ‘azhîmi wa karîmi judikal mu’awwal. Hâdzâ ‘âmun jadîdun qad aqbal. As’alukal ‘ishmata fîhi minas syaithâni wa auliyâ’ih, wal ‘auna ‘alâ hâdzihin nafsil ammârati bis sû’I, wal isytighâla bimâ yuqarribunî ilaika zulfâ, yâ dzal jalâli wal ikram.
Meaning: My God, You are Eternal, Ancient, and Beginning. Because of Your great gift and Your noble generosity, You become the door of hope. The new year has arrived. I seek refuge in You from the persuasion of the Devil and his saints this year. I also hope for Your help in overcoming the passions that often drive me to do bad things. To You, I ask for guidance so that my daily activities bring me closer to Your grace. O Lord of Greatness and Glory.
